High-Speed Chase on U.S. 20 Leads to Crash and Arrests in LaPorte County
Two individuals were arrested early Saturday morning following a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash in LaPorte County, Indiana. The incident began when a deputy on patrol observed a speeding vehicle traveling westbound on U.S. 20 near Wilhelm Road shortly after midnight.
According to authorities, the deputy attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver fled the scene, initiating a pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
During the chase, the suspect vehicle traveled along U.S. 20 before entering the grassy median near County Road 500 East, crossing lanes of traffic, leaving the roadway, and crashing into a sign.
After the crash, both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and ran on foot. Law enforcement quickly responded to the area. One suspect was taken into custody nearby, while the driver attempted to flee further into a field.
A drone was deployed to assist with the search, and the driver was eventually located and arrested wearing only underwear.
