Catherine Augusta “Katie” Young Obituary –Death: Union City, Tennessee Mourn The Death Of A Beloved Resident

Catherine Augusta “Katie” Young: Mrs. Catherine Augusta “Katie” Young, age 89, of Union City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at 7:56 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Magnolia Place in Union City.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Carl Gregorich officiating. Burial will follow at Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday.

Pallbearers include Danny Wall, Joe Wall, Steve Emrich, Tim Wright, Clint Workman, and Cory Workman.

Katie was born on January 3, 1937, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Wilfred O. Kaufman and Rosa (Lattus) Kaufman. She married Jason O. Young, Sr. on April 8, 1978, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2012.

Katie had a distinguished career with Bell South Telephone Company and retired from AT&T. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, and working puzzles and was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Katie is survived by her stepdaughters:

  • Pat McCarver of Union City

  • Cheryl Workman (Ronnie L.) of Union City

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Missy Emrich (Steve), Tim Wright (Windy), Clint Workman (Emily), Cory Workman (Kaitlyn), and Kayce Workman; and five great-grandchildren: Gage Wright, Grayson Workman, Rhett Workman, Langston Workman, and Granger Workman.

Several nieces and nephews also remember her fondly.

Katie was preceded in death by her stepson Jason O. “Buddy” Young, Jr., one step son-in-law Mike McCarver, four sisters Doris Martynak, Margaret Wall, Louise Williams, and Pat Cooley, and three brothers Father Vincent Kaufman, Raymond Kaufman, and James Brice.
