During his younger years, Jason was actively involved in sports and community activities. He participated in multiple sports and was part of the Roanoke-Benson athletic programs, including the 2015 junior high baseball team that finished fourth at the state finals. He was also a member of the 2020 Roanoke-Benson basketball team before the season was cut short during the COVID-19 period.

Beyond athletics, Jason had many hobbies and interests that reflected his creative and energetic nature. He enjoyed woodworking and earned the RBHS Golden Hammer award for his skills. He also loved building and collecting LEGO sets, following sports—especially as a passionate Chicago Cubs fan—and spending time working on projects or riding his Harley.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Samuel Wadas and his uncle Walter “Waddy” Wadas.

Funeral services honoring Jason Tallyn’s life are scheduled to take place at St. John Catholic Church in Benson, Illinois, with visitation at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke.
