Nancy E. Painter Obituary- Death: Nancy E. (Milligan) Painter, age 83, of Brookville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026 at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Born on August 13, 1942, in Clearfield, PA, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Howard J. and Mary Elva (Lanich) Milligan and a devoted member of her community throughout her life.
A graduate of Clearfield High School with the Class of 1960, Nancy continued her education and earned an associate’s degree from DuBois Business School. She dedicated more than thirty years to working as a secretary in the guidance department at Brookville Area School District, where her coworkers affectionately called her “The Boss.”
Nancy’s faith and service were cornerstones of her life. She was a long‑serving member of both the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church and the Brookville First Methodist Church. For over three decades she faithfully taught Sunday school, earning the fond nickname “The Graham Cracker Lady.” Nancy also served as United Methodist Women’s treasurer, a Girl Scout leader, and a cheerleader advisor.
Outside of her professional and church life, Nancy enjoyed social activities with friends, playing cards in local clubs, taking leisurely walks, shopping, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was known for her diligence, whether at work or taking one dedicated week each year to thoroughly clean her home.
Above all, Nancy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother. She supported her children and grandchildren at countless sporting events and was actively involved in their lives, leaving behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and faith that will continue to guide her family.
Nancy is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, three great‑grandchildren, and her sister, Barb Huggins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her Aunt Jane Lanich. The family expressed gratitude for the care provided by the nurses and staff at Brookside Assisted Living and Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor.
Visitation was held on March 15, 2026, at Carrier Funeral Home in Brookville, PA, and a memorial service was conducted there on March 16, 2026, officiated by Pastor Joe Short. Interment took place privately at Historic Crown Crest Cemetery in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
