Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Murder: A tragic incident in Westminster has left a community in shock after a baby girl died following a fall from a residential property on Saturday morning. Authorities have confirmed that a woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder as investigations continue into the heartbreaking event.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called to Horseferry Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. after reports that an infant had fallen from a height from a residential building. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene and transported the baby girl to a nearby hospital. Sadly, despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Police confirmed that a 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. She has since been taken into custody and remains there while detectives carry out further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the family of the child and described the incident as deeply tragic.
“Our thoughts today are with the baby’s family,” Foxwell said. “The death of an infant is always an extremely tragic occurrence, and officers are making urgent enquiries around the circumstances.”
Investigators believe the incident may have occurred within a domestic context, though authorities are continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses to establish exactly what happened.
