LTFRB Summons Jeepney Operator and Driver After Naga Road Accident: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order to both the operator and driver of a public utility jeepney involved in a serious road crash in Naga City, Cebu on March 9, 2026.
A public utility jeepney was struck by a private sedan while it was stopped to pick up a passenger along the national highway in Sitio Sambag, Barangay Tuyan, Naga City, Cebu. The force of the collision caused the vehicle to sustain major damage and left multiple people injured, including both drivers and several passengers and bystanders.
According to police, the sedan unexpectedly veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the jeepney. Local authorities say at least 15 to 16 individuals suffered injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
In response to the Naga City accident, the LTFRB formally summoned the jeepney operator and the driver, requiring them to explain in writing why they should not be held liable for the crash.
LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the show cause order aims to gather detail on the incident and determine if there were lapses in compliance with safety regulations or operator responsibilities. Both the operator and driver have been instructed to appear at an LTFRB hearing.
The LTFRB has also directed its Region 7 office to help crash victims in filing insurance claims and covering medical expenses, offering immediate support to those affected by the accident.
In announcing the show cause order, LTFRB officials stressed that road safety policy improvements are a priority and that accountability measures help reduce similar accidents in the future.
