Two young children who were also in that vehicle were taken to hospital, with one reported in stable condition and the other transported for precautionary checks.
Authorities said the crash occurred when the two vehicles — identified as a Hyundai Ioniq and a Hyundai i20 — collided while traveling in opposite directions along the highway.
