Suspected Wanted n Wife’s Murder: A Saratoga Springs man has been charged with murder following the death of his wife, a case that has shocked the local community and sparked an ongoing police search for the suspect.
Authorities say Alvaro Jose Urbina Rojas, 57, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Jeusselem Elieth Genes Vitola, 43, after her body was discovered inside a trailer in Draper, Utah.
Investigators reported that the couple was last seen on February 26 after leaving their home in Saratoga Springs. According to family members, Rojas was supposed to drive Vitola to work after dropping off their child with relatives, but she never arrived and neither of them returned home. Concern grew when the couple could not be contacted, prompting a missing persons investigation.
Police used cellphone data and license-plate reader technology to track the couple’s movements. Investigators later determined that the pair’s SUV had traveled through southern Utah toward Nevada, and that Rojas’ debit card had been used during the trip.
During the investigation, detectives learned the couple owned a camper trailer stored in Draper. When officers executed a search warrant on March 2, they discovered Vitola’s body inside the trailer. Authorities said her hands had been bound, and an autopsy determined she died from severe blunt force trauma to the head, with indications of possible asphyxiation. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Following the discovery, prosecutors formally charged Rojas with murder. However, he has not yet been located, and police believe he may have fled the state, possibly traveling toward California. A warrant has been issued for his arrest as investigators continue their search.
Family members told authorities that tensions had reportedly grown in the relationship, with allegations that Rojas had become increasingly jealous and suspicious of his wife. Investigators are examining whether those issues may have contributed to the tragic incident.
The case has deeply affected the Saratoga Springs community, where neighbors and friends have expressed shock and grief over Vitola’s death. Community members have gathered in remembrance, offering support to the family as the investigation continues.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about Rojas’ whereabouts to contact authorities as the search remains ongoing.
